Many treat artists and Designer to be the same thing; they aren’t. Both involve the application of the creative mindset but are also fundamentally different things.

Artist and Designer

Art differs from design. In the sense that it seeks interpretation from the audience rather than understanding.
‘Art’ is an expression of human thought, via any number of mediums.
‘Design’ the logical arrangement of relevant things.

– Unlike art, the design has a goal
– Design is for people
– While the design is observing, Art is a constant search
– Art is multifaceted, the design is obvious
– One can be a great designer, but a poor artist
– Art is based on traditions, the design is based on needs

Art is geared towards establishing a connection between the artist and the audience, invoking a new emotion from the observer. It is not something that already exists. Art is to be interpreted, while the design is to be understood.

The designer works with several external disciplinary guidelines such as functionality, the scale of economy for manufacturing, marketability, or adaption to the environment. Artist in general has a singular purpose – pleasing or matching his / her personal aesthetic goal.

First of all, let’s go over some of the traditional differences between art and design:

Design is functional, art is not.
Art expresses a feeling or idea. Design solves a problem.
Design objects are mass-produced, artworks are unique.
art is subjective. Design is the aim.

Many designers confuse to be an artist and many artists tend to confuse to be a designer. Try answering these maybe it helps you to understand yourself better,

Here’s a way to think about it, if you’re not sure:

Q. Do you love drawing and painting?
Q. Sketching and animating characters and/or environments?
Q. Can you express your emotions through art?
Q. You enjoy making 3d models and animations?

Sounds a bit like you, then you’re probably an artist!

Q. Enjoy writing and structuring stories?
Q. Analyzing products when you use them and come up with your own ideas and mechanics?
Q. Enjoy playing around with colors, fonts, and layout?
Q. Like crating your own new scenarios?
Q. Enjoy organizing and coordinating objects?

If this sounds a bit like you, you’re most likely a designer!

Let’s start with art, to help you relax and heal. You do not have to be an artist to enjoy the benefits of art. In fact, most of it relies not on the final product you create. It is more about letting you focus on your inner experience, encourages creativity and self-expression as vehicles to reduce stress, improve self-esteem, increase awareness, and help remedy trauma. You are intrigued by the process of relaxation through your own perceptions, artistic imagination, and feelings.

Start art exercise for relaxation

Start with art to relax and heal

By this, we are taking out time to care, laugh, and live in the present, with a greater sense of empathy. You are encouraged to create art that expresses your inner world more than making something that is an expression of the outer world.

In the time of this pandemic, let’s stay connected with what we love and ourselves. It is time to pick up that painting brush, take out those instruments, or put your dancing shoes on. We have been presented with an opportunity to reconnect with humanity and ourselves once again.

Art acts as a way to activate emotions, memories, and gestalts or symbols. It has proven to be a simple, affordable, and effective way to improve human health and wellbeing. People have used art and observation to deal with stress, cope with trauma, and improve self-awareness and self-esteem.

It is a meaningful and beautiful medium to express what is happening within, in context to what was happening outside and vice versa too. Empathy, of course, lies at its core; a tool that is much valued to find solutions in every sphere of life. Empathy is also the first and the most important step of design thinking as well.

Creative expressive help as a coping strategy, increase self-esteem and self-efficacy, deal with a negative mood or thought. Soon will start feeling positive about yourself. Emotional balanced through the art of being Mindfulness and expressive.

I have compiled a starter kit to get you on your way.

Start with art kit

If you think your paintings are too tight and controlled. This collection of tips and techniques to try should help you work in a looser style.

For more reference on how I do it myself, Please checkout @designs_by_payal will be putting up my own artwork as well

To begin with first and foremost to remember: Think of a happy moment from your memory lane. Brush it out whatever pattern, style, foam you are comfortable in. Don’t forget to repeat. Repetition is KEY. Trick the brain to function. Keep sending a happy signal straight up to the brain. Keep playing, enjoy the moment. Breathe relax. Don’t forget to smile while doing your amazing mindful art.

Lie down and close your eyes.

Visualize your body as you breathe in and out. Try to imagine your breath as a particular color as it enters your body, another color as it exists. What do you see? Draw an outline of a body on a large sheet of paper, and inside, create a watercolor based on your bodily state. Think about what these colors mean to you, where they are densest, where they are most opaque. Think of this as the most relaxing self-portrait you’ll ever create

Draw or paint your emotions.

you’ll focus on painting, drawing, scribbling, coloring what you’re feeling. enjoy

Use line art.

The line is one of the simplest and most basic aspects of art, but it can also contain a lot of emotion. Use simple line art to help show how you’re feeling.

Only use colors that calm you.

Create a drawing or a painting using only colors that you find calming. Tip: try color combinations too.

Create an emotion wheel.

Using color will have you thinking about your emotions.

Create an expressive self-portrait.

Paint in expressive colors. Select colors for emotional impact.

Draw yourself as an animal.

Is there an animal that you have a special interest in or feel like is a kindred spirit? Draw yourself as that animal.

Use your body as a canvas

You don’t need paper when you have your body. Paint on your hands and feet or anywhere else to feel more in touch with yourself.

Make a meditative painting.

Looking for a creative way to relax? Have trouble sitting still to meditate? Meditative painting might be the thing you’re looking for. No painting skill or experience necessary – only a desire to relax and become more creative.

Don’t follow the rules.

Everyone’s different, so do what feels right for you. You may prefer to scribble indoors, in your garden, or whilst having a bath (warning: it’s wet in there). Whatever you choose to do and wherever you go, I hope you find some peace of mind – or if not, enjoy a piece of cake instead.

Don’t allow yourself to judge your work.

The following suggestions are simple ways to explore your inner creative voice while turning off the negative influences that so often get in the way. They may not all work for you, but hopefully one or more of the following techniques will serve as the artistic equal of a long, hot bath.

@designs_by_payal  Here are some of my other drawings. I hope you enjoy looking at them. If you like them and want to share them on social media don’t forget to tag me, Please do give it try and tag me along would love to see your beautiful artwork- thanks!

Here’s are the reasons how Color Psychology Matter in Branding. Color involves every aspect of designing from marketing and branding.

Colour is one of the most aspects which gives the brand a personality and helps in its positioning. Color plays a larger role in marketing and branding than most people are aware of.

Have you experience this-

Q. Do you feel calm when surrounded by green fields and blue skies?

Q. Have you ever asked what does the color red represent and why you feel alarmed when staring at a red stop sign?

What is Color Psychology?

Color psychology is the study of colors about human behavior. By analyzing how a range of colors brings out the emotions and spark reactions in people. Affecting our day to day decisions like the items we buy.

Q. Does the clothes color compel us into the buying?

Q. Do the colors of a package make us pick one brand over another?

Q. Does the color of an icon make us more likely to click on it?

The simple answer is yes.

Color meanings can have an impact on why we prefer specific colors over others.

The same color can also have several implications that are dependent on –

upbringing, gender, location, values, and a variety of other factors.

Color psychology later can help build a strong, relatable brand.

Why does Color Psychology Matter in Branding?

Colors reveal your brand’s major values. By seeing your product packaging or your website.

For example, your target audiences will know who you are, what you sell, and what you’re about.

Color is the first thing that people see and registered in the human brain.

Before typography and/or other images.

Several brands use red for ‘order now’ buttons or for their packaging as a way to stand out on the shelf. save it for the ‘call to action’ or when having a sale so that it contrasts with the website design.

It can trigger hunger and creates a sense of urgency which makes it good for impulse buys. It has the longest wavelength and a characteristic of appearing to be nearer than it actually is.

With the country on indefinite lockdown, we’re all going to need to figure out new ways to do business. Thus, now is a good time to have an in-depth look at your Branding and Marketing and plan.

How to do Branding and Marketing during Lockdown?

How To Do Branding and Marketing During Lockdown

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, The government has asked everyone who can work from home to do so. Some businesses are down completely by these restrictions. It has affected businesses in every industry and of every size. This storm will pass.

The choices we make now could change our lives for years to come. But with no end date for the lockdown, one thing is clear. We have more time on our hands.

To survive, businesses will need to adapt. New ways to operate, offer value, engage and sell to customers. So, let us not only manage to continue to survive this crisis but plan now to come out of it as a winner!

Businesses are finding creative ways to cater to the new types of demand created by the pandemic. Many have reinvented their brand and product offerings to deliver them to customers.

So lay a foundation for your business now and plan what you might be able to diversify into.

Q. Why now is a good time to plan and start your new business?
Q. How to structure your existing business to be able to deal with the current situation?

Defining Your Brand

It is like a journey of business self-discovery. It can be difficult, time-consuming, uncomfortable and requires at the very least, that you answer the questions below:

  • The first and important question is – What is your company’s mission?
  • What are the benefits and features of your products or services?
  • What do your customers and prospects already think of your company?
  • At the end – What qualities do you want them to associate with your company?

Do your research. Learn the needs, habits, and desires of your current and prospective customers. And don’t rely on what you think they think. Know what they think.

Once you’ve defined your brand, how do you get the word out? Here are a few simple, time-tested tips:

Get a great logo designed.

Whether you want to launch your business, or unhappy with the existing logo. Strengthen your brand’s position by creating a logo design it actually deserves. Place it everywhere.

Write down your branding message.

What are the key messages you want to communicate about your brand? Every business, regardless of size, is likely to need a brand. A brand is more than a logo, color or tagline. A well-articulated brand connects with your target customers and conveys. Who you are, What you stand for, And what you can deliver.

Integrate your brand.

Every aspect of your business – How you answer your phones, your e-mail signature. No matter how amazing your brand is with its ideation if it doesn’t portray a stylized identity, it loses the charm. This is where a perfect quality of stationery design turns the situation your way. These little aspects of inclusive corporate identity design and often get overlooked.

Create a “voice” for your company that reflects your brand.

The voice of your brand must be in all written communication and in the visual imagery, online and off. Is your brand friendly? Be conversational. Is it ritzy? Be more formal. You get the gist.

Develop a tagline.

Write a memorable, meaningful and concise statement that captures. The essence of your brand.

Create brand standards for your marketing materials.

Use the same color scheme, logo placement, look and feel throughout. You don’t need to be fancy, consistent.

Have a Social Platform.
